The Two Rivers YMCA joined the YMCA D.I.G. Innovation Network in November 2018 to build bridges between diverse communities by creating greater equity for all, providing inclusive memberships, programs, and services.

Brand Perception
Raise the public's awareness of the YMCA's Vision and breadth of diverse and inclusive programs and services by 2028.
Youth & Teen Program Development
Improve quality, impact, enrollment, engagement and retention of all YMCA youth and teen programs, with emphasis on childcare, aquatics and sports.
Expand Affordability
Develop, test and launch a pricing and financial assistance program with increased contributions to reach 2028 targets.
Mental Health
Develop and implement ways to integrate aspects of mental health (especially a sense of belonging and relationships) into YMCA programs.
Resources for Growth
To increase the capacity to serve more people, the YMCA will invest in staff recruitment, development and retention. New capabilities in technology will be critical to reach community with and manage more people.

Early History
1844 The Young Men’s Christian Association was founded in London, England.
1851 Sea Captain Thomas Sullivan formed the first YMCA in the United States to “improve the spiritual and mental condition of young men.”
1885 The first YMCA in Moline was organized February 10, 1885. Rooms were opened to provide programs on the second floor of the Deere Building in the 1600 block of Third Avenue.
1890 First Moline YMCA building built next to rented rooms on Third Avenue.
1901 Reading Room and Social Room opened in the McKinley Building located at Fourth Avenue and Fifteenth Street.
1903 $5,000 raised to purchase Warr Hall in the 400 block of Sixteenth Street.
1910 Largest fund raising campaign in previous Moline history raised $145,000 on a goal of $125,000 to build new facility on corner of Fifth Avenue and Eighteenth Street.
1925 Successful campaign raised $35,000 for debt reduction and repairs.
1959 Forty acres (Hillcrest Camp in Orion) purchased for outdoor activities.
1960 East Moline Branch opened at 910 15th Avenue, East Moline.
1967 Board of Directors formally adopted “Family” YMCA concept.
Recent History
1971 Successful $1.6 million campaign built new YMCA on 53rd Street, Moline. Moline and East Moline facilities consolidated.
1975 Hillcrest Camp sold to consolidate YMCA camping at Camp Abe Lincoln.
1981 Successful $1.5 million campaign to expand YMCA facilities and services.
1984 State-of-the-Art Energy Management System installed.
1985 Nautilus Fitness Center added to present building.
1989 Child Care program introduced.
2002 Warm-water Therapy Pool and 2nd Floor Wellness Center added.
2010 Quad City Rowing Association merged into Two Rivers YMCA, providing a robust rowing program based out of the Y’s Sylvan Boathouse.
2014 A long relationship with the neighboring Union Congregational Church turned into a new partnership that resulted in the Y adding 4.28 acres and 8,194 square feet to its current Moline campus with the new Spirit, Mind, & Body Center.
2015 With strong volunteer leadership and great community support, the Y raised $3.6 million toward a $3 million capital campaign to renovate and update facilities to better serve current and future members and program participants.
2018 The Two Rivers YMCA agrees to serve as administrative agent for Nourish, a regional nutrition collaborative serving meals and snacks out of the Spirit, Mind, & Body Center, Moline Boys and Girls Club, and the Rock Island Martin Luther King Jr. Center.
2022 Moline Parks and Recreation Department and Two Rivers YMCA teamed up to create a partnership that allows Two Rivers YMCA Members to visit Riverside Riverslide as part of their membership, at no additional cost.
2023 The Two Rivers YMCA expands with the opening of the Rock Island YMCA and the Kewanee YMCA. The YMCA on 53rd Street in Moline is renamed to the Moline-East Moline YMCA.
