Personal training

Meet Adrienne Anderson, our Les Mills Tone instructor and one of our Personal Trainers.

This is her story of pregnancy and the Y: "Having a background in pre & postnatal fitness, it was so neat for me to apply my training to my own body, and being a Tone instructor meant I knew options I could take that best suited my needs. I continued to exercise regularly throughout my pregnancy and even on my estimated due date I atteneded the Tone class and was feeling great. About 12 hours later I was holding my beautify baby boy!" "Recovering from birth is no walk in the park and I knew it was vital that my body had time to rest and heal. Around one month postpartum, I started working on activating my core in my regular breathing. I brought my baby to the Y and walked laps and found ways to workout with my baby before I was ready to put him in the childcare. A couple months later, I started attending classes again, and when my baby was six months old, I was ready to find my way back up to the front of class."

"Now, as I juggle being a full-time mom of three along with the regular responsibilities of life, I've still been able to find a great routine that includes the Y. Teaching several classes a week and working out on my own as well does not mean that my body is "back" the way it once was or where I hope it will be one day. However, I am honoring my body in its postpartum state, rebuilding strength while giving myself grace and frequently reminding myself that I have the rest of my life to reach my fitness goals."
